Sustainable development goals: Making the case for cruelty-free production and consumption
As the United Nations General Assembly 73 kicks off this week, our CEO and founder Carol Treasure is heading to New York to take part in a panel discussion in the Sustainable Development Goals Media Zone. This specially erected glass tent in the UN Visitor’s Plaza will be hosting a series of interviews, debates and Ted-style talks on a series of themes around sustainable development.
Together with our friends from The Body Shop and UN Environment Ambassador Dia Mirza, Carol will be discussing the mission to ban animal testing for cosmetics globally and explaining how new animal-free scientific techniques provide more accurate safety assessments than historic animal data. Later in the week, The Body Shop and Cruelty Free International will be handing their petition calling for a global ban on animal testing to the UN – that’s a huge 8 million demands for more responsible production of beauty products. Surely we can see an end in sight to animal testing around the world!
If you’re in New York, you can watch the debate on Thursday 27th September at 1.45pm ET. Alternatively, follow #SDGLive on Twitter or find out more about the sustainable development goal of responsible consumption and production at www.globalgoals.org/.
