We have some exciting news! Our scientific team have been working hard to meet requests from the cosmetics industry for a human-cell-based screen for collagen-boosting potential. So, this month, we’re excited to launch the test and deliver claim support data for our first client studies using this new method.
In vitro mechanistic studies build confidence, helping to avoid lost time and revenue in the new product development (NPD) pipeline.

Dr Tom Ward, our lead scientist behind the method development, explains more about the test:
“Human dermal fibroblasts in human-relevant culture conditions are exposed to the sample for an agreed time (minimum 24 hours). Collagen is quantified using Sirius Red – a dye that binds with soluble collagen released into the culture medium. The results demonstrate the dose-dependent collagen-boosting potential of the test item.”
The test – known as the Sircol method – provides robust in vitro data to demonstrate collagen boosting properties of both cosmetic ingredients and formulations.
